97 South Song Sessions Announces Developing BC Songwriters Contest

Toronto, ON – Today, 97 South Song Sessions are pleased to announce the 97 South Developing BC Songwriters Contest. Open to current British Columbia residents, the contest, which is sponsored by eOne and Nimbus School of Recording and Media, will give upcoming songwriters a chance to perform live with professional songwriters and attend the two-day 97 South Song Sessions festival in BC’s stunning Okanagan Valley on July 24 and 25.

97 South Song Sessions A&R, Andy Curran says, “97 South is excited about helping to discover and promote British Columbia songwriting talent and bring it to the attention of the world and that of the stellar roster of songwriters performing at our festival this summer.”

The contest opens today with an April 17, 2020 submission deadline. To enter, the contestants must submit an acoustic video performance of 3 original songs, the typed lyrics of the 3 original songs submitted and the song writing credits for each song.

The grand prize includes:

  • An opportunity to perform live with professional songwriters during 97 South Song Sessions
  • 1 economy return flight, 3-nights accommodations and local transportation supplied
  • $500 CAD honorarium
  • 2 passes to the second annual 97 South Song Sessions festival on July 24 and 25, 2020
  • A 12 hour session at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver to record and mix 1 song with
  • A Nimbus School of Recording and Media Engineer (subject to the Nimbus School of Recording and Media Agreement)

The 2nd annual 97 South Song Sessions will be returning to Penticton, British Columbia on July 24 and 25, 2020 featuring top songwriters from the U.S., Canada and beyond including Deric Ruttan, Liz Rodrigues, Tim Nichols, Carolyn Dawn Johnson and Neil Osborne of 5440.
